The Word Came for You and Me!
In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He existed in the beginning with God. God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him. The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it” (John 1:1-5, NLT).

In the beginning, Jesus. Jesus came as the visible God, revealing His Light to all the world. The darkness created by Satan was exposed and extinguished by His presence (Colossians 1:15; John 1:5). The Old Testament began with God’s creation story. God created the heavens and the earth. The Gospel of John starts with the story of God’s redemptive plan being fulfilled in Jesus Christ. If you have given your life to Jesus, you have become a New Creation (Genesis 3:15; 2 Corinthians 5:17).

Jesus is the Word. In His earthly ministry Jesus revealed not only God in the flesh, He also revealed God’s calling to become a New Creation. God the Father’s redemptive plan was revealed in the person of Jesus Christ. He came to take away the punishment we all deserved. He came to reveal the new life God the Father desires for us. He came in the flesh.

That is how much God the Father loves you. He could have announced from His throne His desire for us all to be redeemed. He could have spoken, and all things would have been made new. However, He chose to come “in the flesh to become the sacrifice necessary to restore our relationship with Him. He came to die to set us free.

On the cross, Jesus proclaimed the fulfillment of God the Father’s promise of redemption.

Jesus knew that his mission was now finished, and to fulfill Scripture he said, “I am thirsty.” A jar of sour wine was sitting there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put it on a hyssop branch, and held it up to his lips. When Jesus had tasted it, he said, “It is finished!” Then he bowed his head and released his spirit” (John 19:28-30, NLT).

Jesus came to earth to die for you and me. He died to set us free. Have you accepted His free gift of salvation? Have you given your life to Jesus Christ? God came in the flesh so that you can be with Him for eternity.

Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am. And you know the way to where I am going.”
No, we don’t know, Lord,” Thomas said. “We have no idea where you are going, so how can we know the way?
Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me” (John 14:1-6, NLT).

Jesus is the Living Word. He is the fulfillment of God the Father’s redemptive plan for you and me. Jesus is also the Way to our Heavenly Father’s heart. The Word of God came to set you free, and when you have given your life to Him, you will be free indeed.
